Dear Doctor….

Subject: Surgery Questions re: Calcaneus Fracture

Dear Doctor:

Based on events (6 April 2014- simply walking grass field on farm barefoot with light ankle wrap -NO KNOWN EVENT STANDS OUT- SUDDEN development of and increase in discomfort, becoming painful & inability to walk, in a manner consistent with present ability) & conditions of ankle over last few days (7 April 2014- made me cross-eyed with pain, unable to sleep and for the 1st time since original accident 6 months ago- it made me cry), I’d like some more information so that I can make a more informed decision & Preparations, as a Single Woman Alone:
(ALL GUESSTIMATES ARE ACCEPTABLE- anything to aid in my making required preparations)

  • When is the soonest a surgery date can be set?
  • Do I need to call someone (if so who?) to confirm medical coverage for surgery?
  • Type of surgery to be done (brief description)?
  • In-patient or out-? (My only surgical experience of this nature is two arthroscopic knee surgeries)
  • Estimated (for my age & lifestyle) duration of recovery from surgery before physical therapy?
  • Estimated length of time on crutches?
  • Estimated length of time ‘light-duty’ type of status?

If you remember, I have 11 Animal Companions that are COMPLETELY DEPENDENT ON ME ALONE FOR THEIR HEALTH & WELLBEING, so this information is very important for me to PREPARE for what MUST come.
What I experienced with my ankle over the last few days alarms me, and it needs to be managed as soon as I can make it possible so that I can continue on with trying to reunite with My Life.
Just found this awesome place online, and will be following up with phone call as well.  Thank you very much for your Time, Consideration, and Assistance in planning this out as much as is possible!
Sincerely Yours~

Subject: Surgery Questions re: Calcaneus Fracture

Dear Violet:

The soonest surgery date that can be set is about 2-3 weeks out and we will be the ones to confirm your medical coverage for surgery. That is part of our surgery scheduling . The type of surgery that will need to be preformed is to removed bone spur/fragment and inflamed tissue in your joint. This is a out patient procedure. There will be no need for crutches but will be in a walking boot for about 4-6 weeks . It will be about 3-6 months of possible swelling and some discomfort. Length of time for light duty status is 4-6 weeks. Must keep feet clean and covered at all times in order to prevent infection and make sure the foot heals correctly.
Thanks again for using our new online system
