okay, im back to say that i had funn in the rain, totally on accident, yester, and Justine is to blame!
i had to catch a bus into the nearest town to seek out sketch paper to enter a local festival poster contest with the prize being $200 (fingers crossed!). i have walked past this hardware storefront many times, but never noticed before (YOU planted this seed!) that they too had a garden center. i had a tight schedule to meet or id be walking 10 miles back to the farm, but i only hesitated half a heartbeat…. becuz you promised i’d find ‘magic’ in there.
never before did i have so much funn, wonder & delight in 10 minutes (well- only 90% funn…. 5% of the missing funn was due to the fact that my camera battery was as dead as the Red Witch’s heart! 😥 )
i was able to make quite a few notes of craft ideas inspired in There for future funn & gifts to give, but was overwhelmed by the urgency with which i MUST return SOON & on a RAINY day….
becuz the rain droplets on the blooms were crystalline, vibrant & breath-taking!!
the back half of this garden center apparently has no roof, i discovered, as i was greeted by a garden ‘gnome’ in a vest the color matching the storefront, and a tag with her name on it, to offer me an umbrella- “Seriously?! INSIDE?!” was my reply. “no thank you- i think id ❤ to venture IN, wthOUT!” the rain puddles were warm on my barefeet, and the droplets on my head were gentle & friendly. alas, i found no gargoyles of my own, but was more than pleased with my stolen craft ideas, and the anxious thought of the incredible photos i could also take, if i could return under the right conditions!
finally, i remembered my purpose for this journey into the Village, and turned to leave, when the same garden ‘gnome’ asked if i had found everything i needed. i told her i had only taken this unscheduled detour inside her garden, becuz of a story told to me by a Friend, but my real purpose was the special paper. to which she quickly replied, that if i followed her thru another door, she had exactly what i needed to fulfil my mission.
“Will the Wonders of this day never cease?!”
to me, “hardware” store = 2X4’s and paint and nails…. not ART DEPARTMENT! YEEHAW!!
this is where i found the OTHER 5% of the ‘missing’ funn that day…. they wanted almost $20 for the 16″x20″ paper required for the poster contest!! (if i had that kind of money, i wouldn’t NEED to enter the contest, now would i?!)
i shall return, some RAINY day soon, with my camera, but sadly, not to enter a poster contest….
* i will add the word, “UPDATE:” to the title later, when the photos have been achieved *
